Are we in Kansas? Cuz I thought this was Colorado!!

Southeast Aurora has been hit severly by storms these past couple of years! And it seems every June we get hit by a line of severe thunderstorms and hail with the threat of Tornadoes. Well this year, it actually hit our neighborhood!! The storm came in quickly and gave no warning. We were no sooner listening to the tornado sirens when we looked to the north, near Southlands Mall and - - - there is was! The funnel tore through the mall and took out a few stores, several trees and even some cars before it jumped across Smokey Hill and came straight for us.

I don't think any homes were hit directly by the funnel itself, but we were all affected by the high winds and hail. Many homes have roof damage, many windows were blown out, many people lost personal belongings (such as trampolines, grills, playsets and patio furniture) and some even had AC units ripped out of their homes. Our neighborhood has been canvassed with flyers and signs from roofing and siding companies, we have had door to door salesmen every night coming to try and get our business...

Since that storm we have heard sirens for other tornadoes every day. We are constantly under a watch or warning... hail, thunder and lightning visits us it seems on a daily basis.

Robert and I have decided that the weather is too severe in June to jump on any damages just yet. We plan to wait out this weather pattern and then in July or August have the estimates done before we make a claim. I am not looking forward to it, but it must be done!
