Spring Soccer

We almost didn't have a soccer season this spring. The weather was surely not cooperating! For about the first 2 weeks we had great traditional spring-type soccer, with cold and windy practices and wet, miserable games. But then the snow hit. And our games we cancelled. Week after week. The girls kept on practicing and waiting for the season to really kick off (no pun intended!) and finally the weather cleared and we were able to play some soccer!

Due to the amount of weekends we missed, the girls had to cram all of their games into the final 3 weeks of the season. So we were practically living at the soccer fields. Between 2 practices a week and 2 games a week, we our life was eat...sleep...soccer! But it was so fun!

This was the last season for regular elementary rec soccer for Paige. She has excelled so much (along with all the girls on her team) that we have decided to go up a level to Junior Rec for the fall season! It costs a little bit more money and requires a little bit more time and committment on the girls part, but we talked about it with Paige, and it is something she really seems to want. Junior Rec is for the kids who are more serious about the sport and it offers them more intense training, skills coaching, pick-up games, etc. So we should see a big improvement in her playing over the next year! We are esspecially excited because the whole team has agreed to move up together. Our girls have been playing together since they were 3 and it's neat that they will all be able to take this next step together!

Now that the spring season is over, we are looking forward to a couple of summer tournments and of course the new season this fall with a bigger field, more players, and even positions (like a goalie!) woo-hoo! Go Storm!
