Cole's 1st Pinewood Derby

Ever since we found out Cole was a boy, Robert has been looking forward to the day he would be a cub scout. This year, 1st grade, Cole was finally eligible to start scouts! Robert had the scout night on the calendar for a month in advance and was first in line that night to take Cole in to get signed up. I was working and had planned to meet them down at the school as soon as I got done. By the time I got there, Robert had already signed up Cole AND signed up to be a Den leader.
So now scouting is in full swing. The Den is lovingly called DEN 10 (rhymes with Ben 10) and they meet up twice a month.
Their first big event this year was the Pinewood Derby. Another thing Robert has been looking forward to doing with Cole. So for every night leading up to the derby including the night of... Cole and Robert worked on Cole's car at the kitchen table. Cole modelled it after a BEN 10 character and painted the car in his colors, and even included an OMNITREX on top of the car.
The night of the Pinewood Derby was very entertaining for everyone. Paige, Grandma and Cole's friend Alex accompanied he and Robert as they went to participate, race and try to win the big trophy.
There were so many amazing cars and the races were very close. Cole's car got faster and faster with each round... but in the end, he didn't win. However, Beau, one of his den mates DID win the big trophy! So it was a win for Den 10 and a win for Robert overall. Cole had a blast and says he can't wait until the next one! Robert is so proud of his little tiger cub!
