Corn Maze

It is an annual tradition for us to visit a corn maze and pumpkin patch in October. We usually do it around Paige's birthday, since it is a tradition we started for Paige's 1st birthday. We have been to some AMAZING corn mazes throughout the years. Chatfield's Botanic gardens is always a nice maze. The thing we like best about it is that although the maze is over 8 miles long, there are several ins and outs, as well as bridges to overlook the maze, so you never feel like you're totally lost - and you can usually get out in a matter of minutes if you start to freak out!

The pumpkin patch there is also amazing! They grow pumpkins that are traditional orange, as well as green and white ones, and have an amazing crop of gourds as well!

This year Paige elected to do the corn maze with her friends from her Brownie Troop. It was Scout Day at the Gardens and we got early admission...before the general public. We were probably only inside the maze for an hour before we found our way back out...however, we came out the same way we went in! The girls didn't care, they made it out - and they were so excited! It was a trip trying to keep them all together in the maze... everyone took turns leading the way, but even with that there were some heated discussions on which way to go! It was so much fun and I think it actually taught the girls team work!

After the rest of the troop was read to go home we offered Paige and Cole another round in the maze. They happily accepted and we were off! This time we came out the right exit, and because Paige was leading the way, we practically RAN through it...so we were out fairly quickly.

After we had exhausted the maze we hiked over to the pumpkin patch. And I mean HIKED. It was on the other side of the maze...in fact we came to a dead end inside the maze that put us facing the pumpkin patch through the fence. But it was worth the trip because we got some pumpkins.
