Fall in Colorado

Fall is my favorite time of the year! And fall in Colorado is WHY! The weather is so perfect with sun shine all day and a slight breeze. Cool, crisp evenings are perfect for taking a walk in our beautiful tree filled neighborhood! But fall in Colorado just wouldn't be the same if we didn't take at least one trip up the mountains to see the beautiful fall colors. It's like God takes his paint pallette and drops it on the mountain tops. It's the only time of year when you can see snow capped mountains, lush green evergreens and the bright orange, gold, yellow, red and green leaves of the aspens in their varying stages of color, ALL ON THE SAME MOUNTAIN!
It has always been our tradition to take a day trip up to see the colors and get some great pictures. Every year we take a different route. This year we took the drive from Como, Colorado down to Breckenridge, Colorado, over Borreas Pass. It's a route we've never done before. It was esspecially nice this year, although on our drive UP to Como we were seemingly stuck in traffic. We soon learned that we were stuck right smack in the middle of the 3rd Annual "Emily's Parade", which is a motocycle parade that leads from Columbine High School to Platte Canyon High School in memory of Emily who was a victim of the high school shooting in Bailey, CO 3 years ago. There were pink ribbons, balloons, and banners all the way up, not to mention the hundreds of people lining the highway waving. It was really neat to be a part of that. So we didn't mind the traffic jam... in fact, we appreciated it because it forced us to look at the scenery that much more!
